The Somerset Farmers Co-Operative Telephone Company. Operated for the benefit of farmers in Benton, Canaan and Clinton Maine. Interestedly, only stock holders could use the telephone service. Stock holders where allowed to connect 1 phone to the service for each share they owned and they where allowed to own only 2 shares. Instead of being billed for the service, share holders where accessed on their stock.
