Lowell Manufacturing Company. Founded in 1828 to manufacture cotton and woollen goods. Initially produced "Osnaburgs" cotton and well as rugs and carpets. In 1899, they were taken over by the Bigelow Carpet Company, a competitor that had been founded by a former employee, Erastus Bigelow.
